On Sunday, July 20, 2014, just before the opening of the 20th International AIDS Conference (AIDS 2014Exit Disclaimer) in Australia, we had the opportunity to speak with Dr. Anthony Fauci, Director of NIH’s National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) about the Malaysia Airlines Flight 17.

Among those lost was world-renowned AIDS researcher Dr. Joep Lange, former president of the International AIDS Society, which organizes the conference. This enormous loss is on the minds of all conference participants and many HIV/AIDS colleagues around the globe. In his brief video, Dr. Fauci expresses his condolences to the family and friends of those lost and shares inspiration from Dr. Lange.
