NIMH Reflects on Decades of Involvement in HIV Research

As part of a yearlong 75th anniversary celebration of transforming the understanding and treatment of mental illnesses,
NIH’s National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) recently published a story reflecting on decades of work by the institute to understand and eradicate HIV, Decades of Dedication and Collaboration: Unraveling the HIV Mystery. The story spans from NIMH’s work early in the HIV/AIDS epidemic to document and understand the cognitive impacts of HIV and AIDS to its later work to understand the behavioral and social factors that impact HIV transmission and treatment and concludes by discussing its current contributions to the Ending the HIV Epidemic in the U.S. initiative.
