U.S. Business Action to End HIV Shares Accomplishments

Last week, the U.S. Business Action to End HIVExit Disclaimer (the Coalition) heldExit Disclaimer its annual meeting at the Emory University Rollins School of Public Health in Atlanta, Georgia. Since the Coalition launched on World AIDS Day in 2022, it has grown to include nearly 70 companies—an increase of 30 in the last year alone—and continued to engage corporations in accelerating public–private partnerships to end the HIV epidemic in the United States. Coalition efforts center around six key commitments: (1) lead on HIV, (2) educate workers and end HIV stigma, (3) strengthen services, (4) advocate for policy and systems change, (5) support local communities, and (6) provide financial support. The Coalition also released the World AIDS Day Toolkit For EmployersExit Disclaimer.
Over the course of 2024, Coalition members engaged in many activities reflecting their annual commitments, such as:
- CVS Health teamed up with the National AIDS Memorial and THRIVE Support Services (THRIVE SS) to host a quilt-making workshop at Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia, commemorating National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day.
- Walgreens and KFF continued their joint commitment to National HIV Testing Day, holding events in 500 stores in 320 cities, including in most of the 57 Ending the HIV Epidemic in the U.S. initiative priority jurisdictions, as well as in health departments and community-based organizations. These events delivered over 7,600 HIV tests and provided more than 2,000 PrEP referrals and linkages to care.
- Match Group's dating app BLK partnered with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) Together TakeMeHome initiative to send a push notification to about 2,500,000 users to promote free HIV self-test kits. The notification resulted in 2,700 HIV self-test orders.
- Gilead hosted an event in Washington, DC, for National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day to raise awareness and promote HIV prevention, testing, and treatment.
- Mercer continued to work with employers to educate about HIV, including with a World AIDS Day blog post, 5 things employers can do to end HIVExit Disclaimer, and a new videoExit Disclaimer about living with HIV in the United States.
- ViiV Healthcare hosted a virtual event with its employee resource groups (ERG) to provide HIV education and highlight the role of businesses in addressing the HIV epidemic.
Throughout 2025, we look forward to highlighting more examples of the Coalition members' work.

At the event, the Health Action Alliance, which convenes the Coalition, announced a new partnership with IBM, SAP, and the Human Rights Campaign (HRC), founders of the #workingpositively campaign and PledgeExit Disclaimer. The campaign encourages employers to destigmatize HIV by supporting employees with HIV and chronic illness and creating a safe and inclusive workplace. Going forward, all companies who sign the Pledge will be invited to join the Coalition and all Coalition members will be invited to sign the Pledge.
This year, the Coalition has also supported the work of five industry action cohorts, which bring together leaders in specific roles or sectors to collaborate on HIV-related issues. These five cohorts are: (1) retail pharmacies, (2) human resources and benefits leaders, (3) employee resources groups, (4) HIV testing, and (5) government relations. The Coalition has also launched two new local chapters in Houston, Texas, and Los Angeles, California, in addition to its Atlanta chapter.
The National HIV/AIDS Strategy emphasizes the importance of cultivating new public–private partnerships to bring key efforts to address HIV to new audiences and through new stakeholders. The Coalition continues to demonstrate its commitment to pushing strategies forward to create whole-of-society solutions to accelerate efforts to end the HIV epidemic.
