The Office of Infectious Disease and HIV/AIDS Policy (OIDP) pauses to recognize the importance of World AIDS Day. On this day and throughout the year, we honor the memory of those lost to AIDS-related illnesses globally since the start of the epidemic, reflect upon the global response to HIV/AIDS, and recommit ourselves to ending the HIV epidemic. To learn more about World AIDS Day, visit HIV.gov.

OIDP’s Kaye Hayes, MPA, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Infectious Disease; Director, OIDP; and Executive Director of the Presidential Advisory Council on HIV/AIDS, and Timothy P. Harrison, Ph.D., Principal Deputy Director of OIDP, share a World AIDS Day message below.

Listen as they share their thoughts about World AIDS Day, remembering those we’ve lost, and honoring the incredible resilience of those in the HIV community. Ms. Hayes highlighted that as we commemorate World AIDS Day and work toward ending the HIV epidemic, we must remember the mantra, “nothing for us without us.”
